Reporting David C.... Schilling about the fight of the 4. October 1943 (3. kill)
Battle report Major David C.... Schilling action Type: Martial Date: 4. October 1943 Unit: 63. fighter squadron, 56. fighter group Time: 1132-1138 Location: to the east of Duren Weather: clear Type NL: ME 110 enemy losses: 1 destroyed ME 110 Description:
Before the meeting with the bomber formations from the south, I noticed that one box of about 40 bombers was clearly behind the main force. Directed here 61. and 62. squadron to cover the front boxes, and I led 63. to cover the rear of the box. The back box we approached and we had it at 10. hours of and slightly below us. At a distance of five miles we spotted a large number of twin-engine enemy aircraft attack the box of 5. and 7. hours.
Roved here before the bombers and made a 270° turn, which got us a squadron on the 6th. an hour the bombers to a height of 28 000 ft and 1 500 to 2 000 yards behind the enemy and the bombers.
I chose the ME 110 flying on the 6th. an hour left for the box and approached at approximately 600 yards, where it back fired a short burst. Immediately he saw the interference from the one end of the wing to the other, the left engine started to leak coolant and the right one was on fire. Another short dose with the same concentration caused that the plane burst into flames all and switched to a mild, right-handed, falling corners with both burning engines.
Then I noticed another the me110 to the left and Esíčkem on the left I got for him and in that moment he turned right. Deliberate outline was set to 400 yards and at the moment when he pulled the trigger, so they are on the plane discovered the interference and caught fire. This was due to the fire Postgate White 3 (por. Ludwig), which is in front of me got into position and effectively directed their weapons.
I'll add 1 ruined ME 110 and confirming the ME 110 destroyed por. Ludwig.

Reporting David C.... Schilling about the duel of 8. October 1943 (4. kill)
Battle report Major David C.... Schilling action Type: Martial Date: 8. October 1943 Unit: 62. fighter squadron Time: 1540 Location: Around malta and cyprus Weather: Cloud cover 2/10, vertical visibility good, horizontal proportionate Type NL: Fw 190 enemy losses: 1 destroyed the Fw 190 Description:
Led here 56. fighter group on bomber escort, after the meeting we got for 1. The Task Force and they started getting into position. At that moment I noticed a couple stragglers for the first formations. The first two miles in them at a height of 24,000 feet and the other five miles in them at a height of 20 000 feet. Later, they were both alone destroyed four or five enemy aircraft.
Woodfire White 3 announced that it is ready for the endgame and so I told him mine and he added that he'll do the top cover. Shortly thereafter I met the Fw 190 with a bomb or an auxiliary tank under the fuselage, made a passage through to the next stragglers from his 8. hours, then turned to starboard and flew towards the bomber at a height of 20 000 feet. I left the high-rise coverage and launched here dive-bombing to a height of 19/20, 000 feet. Flew here under him, and settled directly behind him at a distance of 600 yards.
Launched here fire at 400 yards and closer to the 300/250 yards. I could clearly see the hits on his left wing and fuselage. Then followed by a huge burst of left the root of the wing and began her roll black smoke. Jerry passed out to the right and the last time I saw him how he goes to the ground and smoke. Drew here, however, Woodfire White 2 when he saw how in a dive the pilot bailed out and opened his parachute.

"I Flew on the position of the Woodfire White 2 and I saw the action described above. When he saw here hits around the cockpit and engine and a German plane started heavily smoking. Flipped on her back and then went into a nose dive in the smoke and flames. White 1 and I had dragged and how I was leaning, I looked back and saw that the pilot opened his parachute."

Reporting David C.... Schilling about the duel from the 10. October 1943 (5. shoot - aerial ace)
Battle report Major David C.... Schilling action Type: Martial Date: 10. October 1943 Unit: 62. fighter squadron Time: 1515 Location: Around Altenberge Weather: Foggy, cloudiness 2/10 over the target, visibility good Type NL: Fw 190 enemy losses: 1 destroyed the Fw 190 Description:
Led here 56. the group, and after crossing the Dutch coast of the us it was reported that the bombers have 9 minutes late. For zkácení time I led a group a little south-east from the planned route and soon after I met flak firing at the line B-17tek. It us quite helpful, due to the fog it was difficult to see the bombers from any distance. We flew directly over Munster at a height of 30 000 feet and met up with the bombers in the vicinity of Altenberge, 15 miles northwest of our destination. As we approached them, saw here 60/75 enemy aircraft conducting attack from the front, the side and from the back even with the use of rocket bombs (it was the Werfer-Granate 21, which was jednohlavňové launchers unguided missiles mounted individually under each wing of fighters, typically Focke-Wulfů, approx. translator).
When we arrived at the right side of the bombers, I saw the 6/8 enemy aircraft provádějicích frontal attack on the head of the box. It occurred to me that it might be too late before we take them into custody, so I made a sharp, 180° turn and pinned them until after the completion of the flyby. One 190tka brought it to the left, when she was at the height of 16 000 feet and I fell for her. Launched here fire on the 400/500 yards directly behind him and I saw flashes on the wings and on the fuselage, but I couldn't it long enough to keep in my sights until I get at least to 300 yards.
In that moment, suddenly appeared a large explosion on his left wing and from the wing and the cockpit began to flow smoke. I was forced to pull over him and appeared a huge flash. Brought here to the right and ascended at 21/22, 000 feet in an effort to connect with his squadron, but that was as a result of the attack scattered. Then here vystoupla through 10/12 enemy aircraft (which I obviously did not pay attention) and joined the Blue 1 and 2 at a height of 27 000 feet.
The Fw 190, that I encountered was carrying probably the rockets under the wings and had a yellow tail.
I'll add 1 destroyed Fw 190

Reporting David C.... Schilling about the fight from 29. November 1943 (shared kill)
Battle report action Type: Martial Date: 29. November 1943 Unit: 62. fighter squadron Time: 1430 Location: to the South of Oldenburg Weather: Visibility fair, cloud 10/10 Type NL: Fw 190 enemy losses: 1 destroyed the Fw 190 Description:
Led here the Blue squadron of Woodfire in the air campaign no 192. We were on our way with the bombers approximately 8 minutes from the rendezvous point, when 2 unknown aircraft near us from the opposite direction of formation of Flying fortresses. Immediately he saw the flames explosive ammunition flying from those two aircraft. In that moment, I was south of the second box and the two unknown aircraft turned to the southwest and swooped right under us. When passing here, is identified as a Fw 190. Rewound on the left wing and started to approach these individuals. As I slowly approached, I chose for the target plane to the left in the back. Launched here fire at a distance of approximately 600 yards and approached here with a light, left turn at 400 yards with a slight hanging. After the second dose I met on the fairing and the fuselage interference and the plane flipped into an uncontrollable spin in a drift of smoke. The second plane is flipped over on the left wing. He dragged down on the left and about a minute or two here saw the explosion and red flames on the ground under the place of encounter.
After returning to base I learned that my second, lt. Williamson, shot on the same aircraft at the same time as me. One or both of us we destroyed the 190 in action described above. With confidence here when he saw hits and saw the enemy aircraft crash. And therefore depending on the rating I hold a claim, but in the event that this claim is confirmed, there is no doubt who should be shoot assigned to me or lt. Williamson and asking to be added, lt. Williamson.
I'll add 1 destroyed Fw 190 (depending on the evaluation of the my and Williamsonova film recording)

"I Flew on the position of the Woodfire Blue Two (two colonel. Schilling) on the air campaign no 192. Flying on the right side of the bombers, we saw two Fw 190s flying out of the back of the box. As the enemy aircraft passed under our left wing, colonel. Schilling suppressed and turned left. Retained on the inner corner and as we are to the enemies approached from behind, began to perform a slight, left turn. Approached here, at approximately 550 yards on the last of the two enemy aircraft. At the moment when the opened fire here saw the enemy plane hits and a second later turned to the right and in the smoke and the flames went into a tailspin. The second enemy plane made a sharp left turn, suppressed and disappeared in the clouds."
