Feldwebel, Bohumil Landa


Holder of the austrian-Hungarian pilot's licence FAI number 826 of 8. October 1917.
After the end of the Great war he served in the Czechoslovak air force as a flying instructor.
In 1922 is guided in the aviation school in Cheb as an instructor Pilot school, basic in the rank of staff sergeant. In 1924 (or 1925) is an elementary school moved to Prostejov, with her sergeant Bohumil Walk.
For his activity was extraordinarily (did not score graduation education) 28. February 1938, promoted to lieutenant of the Czechoslovak air force.
At the time of mobilization in 1938, is appointed commander of the Training squadron I/2 at Přibyslav. The unit is designated 28. September 1938, and already 13. October 1938 is repealed.
After the occupation of the zbívajícího Czechoslovak territory, leaving abroad and in 1940 is listed as a member of the Czechoslovak bomber squadron 311. RAF.
In the night from 16. 17. October 1940 conducted 311. bomber squadron, bombardovácí raid on the German city of Bremen on a large diesel tank. The raid is also taking part in the Pilot Officer Bohumil Landa, as the captain of the aeroplane Wellington Mc.IC, KX-T, L7844.
The crew formed a Pilot Officer Bohumil Landa as the captain of the aircraft and first pilot, Sergeant Emanuel Novotný as the second pilot, Pilot Officer Hubert Jarošek as a navigator, Sergeant Karel Klimt as a radioman and gunners Sergeant Otto Jirsák and Sergeant Augustine Dime. Wellington KX-T started at 18:50 pilotovaným at that moment Sergeant Novotny. The crew úzpěšne odbombordovala and during the return flight over the coast of the Netherlands near oosterwolde area–Gelderland were about at 22:40 attacked by a German night fighter. The attacker was a German night fighter, then Leutnant Ludwig Becker of 4/NJG1 on the machine Messerschmitt Bf 110. After the second attack at about 21:51 Wellington KX-T piloted by Pilot Officer Bohumil Landa. In each attack the rear gunner Sergeant Dime enough for ůtočníkovi shoot a short burst and slightly wounded him. Telegrapher Sergeant Klimt could odvisílat signal SOS.
From the crew using a parachute save only the Sergeant Emanuel Novotny (was leaking 5 days) and Augustine Dime (he was caught the next day). Others, including the shot down Pilot Officer Bohumil Landy was found on the plane of death. Buried at the central cemetery in oosterwolde area Doornspijk in the Netherlands.
For Leutnant (later he was promoted to Hauptmann) Ludwig Becker it was the first victory, gained 46. For 311. bomber squadron it was a pitchy night, lost 3 of 4 sent bombers to bomb Bremen.


IN TO. in To. Luftfahrtruppe reached the rank of Feldwebl, in the Czechoslovak military air force reaching the rank of Lieutenant of the air force, the Royal Air Force reaching the rank of Pilot Officer.
