22.3.1944 WaPrüf 6 ordered a prototype Pz.Kpfw.II Luchs, which was equipped with an air-cooled Tatra diesel engine, to be tested at the test centre in Kummersdorf. The platform was delivered in late 3/1944 and underwent field driving tests on the Berka polygon. On 8/5/1944 the V29 prototype was sent from Prague to Eisenach to test fuel consumption. However, it broke down on the way and due to lack of spare parts was loaded onto a train transport and sent to Kummersdorf, where it was subsequently continued testing. However, the hull design of this prototype was quite different from the classic Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.L tank. It was a modern shaped hull made of armoured plates welded at sharp angles. It resembled a miniature of a medium tank Panther. The prototype had a turret from VK 9.01 instead of a conventional turret.

Note:
Personally, my impression is that the hull of the prototype is more like a sort of sheet metal mock-up on the original Luchs hull.
