When commissioned to develop the Leichttraktor, the production of a third prototype in the form of a tank fighter fell to Rheinmetall. Photos of the prototype are dated 9/11/1930, in 10/1930 it was sent to Kummersdorf for testing. Here it covered a total of 1,277 kilometres by 1933.

In 1933 the prototype underwent a chassis modification. Instead of twelve small running wheels on each side, the machine was given eight larger wheels grouped in pairs. The structure to mount each pair was sprung with a large coil spring. The self-propelled gun was stripped of some of the hull structure and the turret itself at the time of conversion. An open crew compartment was created where the driver had a folding windscreen in front of him in a frame structure. Mounted ballasts simulated the weight of the turret and the partially removed hull structure. The 1940 Artillery Survey Report also includes this project, but gives the year 1934 as the start of the project's development. Presumably (?) it is a modified form of the tank fighter with a new chassis. Slightly different technical data are given. The total weight was to be 8500 kilograms, the number of crew members was reduced to three persons, the maximum speed was to be 35 km/h. and the maximum armour thickness was given as 13 millimetres.
