Model AVDS-1790-5A is an air-cooled supercharged 12-cylinder diesel engine, which was developed on the basis of the version of the AVDS-1790-2C and shared with her approximately 80% of the components. The main difference lies in the use of the neat injection molding and cooling, which could fear the increased power of the engine by one-fifth of the 950 pcs (or in older versions of the 908 pcs). Also replaced the starter. Engine cooling, but also oil, cater to the two motor driven fans. In the newer version when you use the aluminum part, managed to achieve the optimal ratio of performance-to-weight. Version of the AVDS-1790-5B is equipped with a double-improved turbocharger. This engine was introduced into the armament of the american forces, but used was mainly israeli tanks series Magach & Sabra.
