III. group of JG 2 was 16. march 1940 in Magdeburg on the basis of the order of 11. October 1939. Part of the pilot cadre have provided Also. and II. group of JG 51. After four weeks, the group achieved operational capability and moved in April to Frankfurt-Rebstocku, where she went to the subordination of JG 2.
