The commander of the squadron 01.09.1939 was a captain (Hauptmann) Wolf-Dietrich Meister.

03.09.1939 in the mission south of the city of Mława were numerous interventions from the country's damaged right engine of the machine Dornier do 17 M (U5+MK) with crew: pilot Uffz. Heinz Gerlach, observer, Gefr. Wulf, on-board mechanic Gefr. Brüning. The machine made an emergency landing in East Prussia near the village of Bansen (today Bęsia in Poland). The degree of damage to the machine - 40%.

The reason for the damage to the engine of the machine U5+MK could be shrapnel after the explosion of a 40mm anti-aircraft shell fired 81. a motorized anti-aircraft artillery batteries of the type "B", which was in this day as the only anti-aircraft unit in the area of the city of Mława.
