Flik 8 was formed at the field the airport Žurawica (1 in the fortress of Przemyśl in July 1914, under the command of Oberleutnant Eugen Czapary (Hungarian Czapáry Jeno). In the function of the commander, however, soon succeeded Oberleutnant Ing. Rudolf Stanger, which was transferred from Flik 1. From this airport, operated by mid-August 1914. After transfer to the Radymna to the north of the Přemyšlu and in their place sent a newly formed Flik 11.
After the surgery of the other field airports in Galicia. After the retreat before the Russian army at the end of the autumn of 1914 he got Flik 8 to Krakow to the airport Rakowice. From here do another reconnaissance, bombing and other years ago. Followed field airport in Bochnia, Brzesko and at the beginning of January 1915 airport in Okocim is located in the curve of the river Uszwicy.

During the siege of the fortress of Przemyśl by the Russian imperial army performed pilots Flik 8 postal and supply flights to the besieged fortress. Landed first on the field the airport Žurawica and later, when it was under fire of Russian guns on the newly established field airports Hurko and Buszkowice.
The last years done by the unit early in the morning 22. march 1915 the day of the fall of the fortress. The aircraft piloted by commander of the Flik 8 Oberleutnant Ing. Rudolf Stanger and the on-site observer sat the commander of the Flik 11 Rittmeister Georg Edler von Lehmann.
The same day just an hour before from the fort flew the machine piloted by Feldwebel Robert Melčem and Korporal Ferdinand Junker. You fell into Russian captivity.

At the end of march 1915 was přesuta to the airport Jasieni near the city of Brest, where she remained until may 1915. It is then moved to the Poly on the Adriatic. Where it engages in a war with Italy. In August 1915 is Flik 8 moved closer to the front to the river Isonzo. In march 1916 it is sent to the South Tyrol. In August 1916 he is deployed once again on the Russian front until January 1918. In the middle of the year 1917 is the name of the unit Flik 8 changed to Flik 8D together with the assigned specialization.
After the signing of the Brest–Lithuanian peace is sent again to the Italian front on the airfield at the town of Bassano del Grappa. Where her at the airport Feltre caught in November 1918 the end of the war. Airline company Flik 8 was disbanded in the city Spittal an der Drau in the south of Austria at the end of November 1918.

Other commanders Flik 8 after Oberleutnant Ing. Rudolf Stanger were Rittmeister Georg Edler von Lehmann, Hauptmann Gustav Cold.


Notes:
1) Field of the airport Žurawica (the name is by the village for which it is decomposed) with four wooden hangars and warehouse fuel. Airport has established and imposed the then Oberleutnant Rudolph the Holeka.
