1940

In February he was of Polish airmen, who have been to Britain evacuated at the turn of the years 1939/1940, selected by the staff for the first Polish bomber squadron and started with the training. At the end of June he moved on to the 18. unit operating training (No. 18 found in charles RAF) in Bramcote, where also 1. July the first Polish bomber unit was officially established. 14. September has been declared political prisoners and graduated its first operating years, in which 3 of the crew bombed the ships in the port of Boulogne. In the next few days followed a similar tasks, and up to the end of October, when it began to přezbrojovat on six-digit-medium bombers Wellington. 22. December has taken on new aircraft's first combat flight on a crude oil refinery in Antwerp. During the year, has taken 55 combat missions in the length of 212 hours. Lost 5 pilots of the fallen in the operational years and 3 during their training years.

Up until the middle of march, the squadron was grounded podmáčenou flat-shuttle. After the improvement of the conditions, however, started to be very intense attack on targets in Germany and occupied Europe. In the night from 23. 24. march has taken its first raid on Berlin. Conducted 872 operating flights in the length of 4691 hours. Lost 23 soldiers were killed and 14 captured airmen, the other two are captive managed to escape and return to Britain.

At the beginning of the year has a squadron because of the huge losses a critical shortage of crew (only three) and the aircraft (only eight). Yet continue to undertake air strikes mainly in the ruhr region and zaminovává ports. From the beginning of the year squadron "B" continues in the training of the Lancasterech, squadron "And" still operates on the Wellingtonech mainly in minování ports. 1. march, after moving to a new base, started with the training of the whole squadron and already 18. April took the first operating years on new machines at the railway station in the French Rouen. 1. June has also been a reorganisation of the unit.
