VFA-151 Vigilantes

Squadron VFA-151 was created out of the original fighter squadron VF-151 in 1986. Squadron in record time (within 6 months) přeškolila of F-4S the new F/A-18 Hornet. The first cruise has carried out the squadron on board USS Midway (CV-41) still in the same year.

In October 1990, VFA-151 participated in operation Desert Shield. 17. in January 1991, the squadron participated in the air attacks in operation Desert Storm. During this deployment squadron was on target in the Kuwajtu, Iraq and in the Persian gulf a total of 368 tons of equipment.

In February 1993, the squadron přezbrojila to a new version of the F/A-18C. In may 1993, VFA-151 got a new passenger on the USS Constellation (CV-64). On board the Constellation squadron operated for several years.

In the year 2002 to the year 2003, VFA-151 during the six-month cruises to the USS Constellation (CV-64) participated in operation Enduring Freedom.

From march 2003 the squadron participated in the attack on Iraq as part of operation Iraqi Freedom in the context of CVW-2.

In 2004, the squadron got a new passenger on board the aircraft carrier the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) together with the entire on-board the wing CVW-2.

In January 2005, the squadron VFA-151 participated in the humanitarian actions in south east asia after the disaster caused by the Tsunami..
