B.E.1: first prototype

B.E.2a: first combat variant, several units produced from late 1912 onwards and deployed at the beginning of the war
B.E.2b: variant with modified cockpit, some later machines had ailerons instead of the original wingtip twist control
B.E.2c: the most common variant, a substantially redesigned machine based on early experience
B.E.2d: version produced concurrently with the C with auxiliary tank under the upper wing and dual controls
B.E.2e Quirk: final version with modified fuel tanks, new single truss wings of unequal span and modified tail surfaces
B.E.2fB.E.2f - RFC designation for B.E.2e with fuselage from B.E.2c
B.E.2g - RFC designation for B.E.2e with fuselage from B.E.2d
B.E.9: an attempt to enable straight-ahead firing before the introduction of the synchronizer by placing the firing nacelle in front of the propeller of the classic B.E.2. 1 prototype.
B.E.12: little successful attempt at a fighter based on the B.E.2c version
