Command of the inspector General of the tank units no I/1130/45 of 22. February 1945 was, with effect from 1. march set up Union tank destroyers Vistula and stationed east of the Berlin near the town of Müncheberg. Union was entrusted with the command of units of tank destroyers in the scope of the army Group Vistula. At the end of march was renamed on Division tank destroyers Vistula. 21. April the division was subordinate to the III. panzer corps of the SS. Due to the general lack of tds were members of the Panzer-Jagd units armed with hand-held anti-tank weapons, Panzerfaust and Panzerschreck, and because of the better mobility equipped with bicycles.
