KB-7 (U-14)
The prototype of the machine KV-7 (U-14) was made by the CCP plant as "Object 227" ( Object 227) and underwent shooting tests in April 1942
The chassis came from a heavy tank KV-1, on which was placed a closed armor superstructure, analogous to the prototype KV-6. In its front part were two 76.2 mm cannons ZIS-5 on a common carriage. The cannons could be fired alone or with a salvo. The self-propelled gun could fire up to 15 rounds per minute, muzzle velocity was 680 m/s. The vehicle transported 150 pieces of ammunition for cannons and 2646 rounds for machine guns DT (a total of 42 magazines). Ammunition was supplemented by 30 grenades RG F-1.
The crew consisted of six people, driver-mechanic, radio operator, commander, shooter and two chargers. The engine with an output of 600 hp (441 kW) and the transmission was completely taken over from the tank KV-1. The vehicle weighed 47.5 tons reached a speed of 34 km/h and its range was 250 km.
Despite the fact that the vehicle proved to be good driving in tests, it was not accepted into service in the end, as its equipment was not sufficient to fight modern German tanks (especially with Pz. VI Tiger). Further development of double-headed means in the USSR did not continue during the war.
