In addition to the Landsverk plant, the Karlstads Mekaniska Werkstad plant was also involved in the production of the Strv m/40, producing 80 units of the Stridsvagn m/40K series. The vehicle had a different engine, the Scania-Vabis 603/3 (8470 cc) with an output of 162 hp at 2300 rpm and, unlike the L version, homogeneous armour up to 50 mm thick. The tanks were gradually delivered until September 1944 and were equipped to the 8th Armoured Brigade in Helsingborg. Of some interest is that one example was rearmed with a 57mm calibre gun in the early 1950s (m/43). Like the other m/40 tanks, the m/40K was scrapped in 1960.
