DAF YAD 4440
DAF YAD 4440 - a flatbed version of the 4-tonne truck developed on the basis of DAF 1600 civilian trucks. The general designation of the model is YA 4440, which means

The YA 4440 series was intended to replace the DAF YA-328 and DAF YA-314 trucks in the arsenal.
The contract between the Ministry of Defence and DAF for the supply of 4-tonne trucks was signed on 07.12.1976, tentatively for 4,000 trucks at a cost of 342 million guilders. The first vehicle was delivered to the army in June 1977, and after tests (and modifications to the vehicle) were carried out, delivery of the vehicles took place in 1978-1982. During series production, the total number of vehicles ordered changed and a total of around 7,200 to 7,500 vehicles (of all versions) were delivered.
Following a further order in 1989, production of the modified model (generic designation YA 4442) resumed in December 1989, with over 5100 units produced. This series differs from its predecessor with a different engine (DAF DNT 620), a new transmission with 6 gears, but also a higher weight.
