Sorau Airport (Żary)

The airport was established in the 1920s for sport flying. In the mid-1930s it was taken over by the Luftwaffe and considerably cut up and rebuilt. Mainly used by training units, but occasionally housed combat units. Since 1942 it also served as a factory airfield of the fy. Focke-Wulf.
After the occupation of the town by the Soviet Army in February 1945, Soviet air units were stationed here (apparently briefly).
Today an industrial zone.
