According to official reports from the US Department of Defense, the 105 mm howitzer L119, which is licensed in the US under the designation M119 and 36,000 rounds of 105 mm caliber ammunition, will appear in the artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the near future. It is designed to support infantry. The maximum range is up to 17 km. The weight of the howitzer is 1.9 tons. The crew consists of three persons.
A month ago, it was revealed that New Zealand intends to send 30 instructors to Europe to help Ukrainian soldiers master the L119 towed 105 mm light howitzer, a modification of the British light howitzer L118 standardized for the US 105 mm M1 (UK 105 mm How).
Given that the US has previously fielded M777 howitzers with a 2,000 rounds-per-barrel ratio, the armed forces can expect to add 18 L118 units for a similar ratio, which equates to a divisional composition, Defense Express reports.

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has given the names of the commanders of the troops in Ukraine. Colonel General Alexander Lapin commands the military units of the "Center" force group and Army General Sergei Surovikin commands the southern force group, it said on Friday 24. June evening, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov commented on the course of hostilities in Ukraine.
On the morning of 25 June, the UK Ministry of Defence published a tweet stating that since the beginning of June, the Russian High Command had "very likely removed a number of generals from key command positions" in the war on Ukrainian territory. In this regard, the British authorities name Air Force Commander Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov and Southern Force Group Commander Army General Aleksandr Dvornikov, adding that the latter had "probably served as the main operational commander" of Russian forces in Ukraine for some time.

In March 2014, during the Russian intervention in Crimea, units of the Russian Armed Forces seized the Ukrainian drilling rigs "Petro Godovanets" and "Ukraina" (known as the "Boiko Towers"), which belonged to Chornomornaftogaz. At that time, the rigs were located in Ukrainian territorial waters in the Odessa gas field. The rigs were seized by paratroopers from the 104th Guards Airborne Strike Regiment of the Russian Airborne Forces.
In December 2015, the drilling rigs were moved to the Golitsyn field off the coast of Crimea. On each of the four self-propelled drilling rigs stolen in Ukraine, including the so-called "Boyk Turrets" - purchased in 2010, the Russian military installed electronic reconnaissance and warfare systems, such as Neva-type radar and sonar systems, which allowed the Russian military to control surface, air and underwater space in the northwestern sea between Crimea and Odessa.
Further investigation by Informnapalm, published on 8 January 2016, shows that the towers were still under the protection of Russian paratroopers at the time, as well as soldiers of the GRU's 25th Special Regiment, from which Alexander Alimov was identified, and the Russian Marine Corps - 810th Separate Marine Brigade, from which Danilo Morgunov was identified.
