Governors of Russian regions have been ordered to form volunteer battalions. From their own funds and outside of official mobilization. Often these are elderly men. And once again, it looks like it will be mainly members of ethnic minorities going to war.

The plane that Russian forces shot down over Alchevsk yesterday was probably a modern and rare Su-34M

At Kharkiv a Russian group was partly destroyed, partly captured, which included members of the Russian Navy's Special Forces for underwater diversions. They were transferred to a Marine unit and then deployed to Ukraine.

It must be snowing a lot in the Russian parliament...

A Russian missile hit the bridge in the Gulf. This is probably not a preparation for a landing, as the development of the situation in the Black Sea has made this impossible (and some Russian ships have recently sailed from occupied Sevastopol to Novorossiysk). So probably an attempt to limit the shipment of grain from Ukraine/weapons to Ukraine

Hard to know how seriously to take this. In any case, the Kadyrovtsy have suffered considerable losses in the Donbas... Given the disproportionately high casualties experienced by ethnic minorities on the front, this may not be an isolated case in the future.

A list of Russian warehouses in the occupied territories that have been destroyed in the past week

Ukrainian forces shelled the Antonivsky bridge, which carries the road to Kherson. If this bridge over the Dnipro River, the adjacent railway bridge, and the smaller bridge in Darjivka over the Inhulets were taken out, Kherson and its surroundings would be cut off from the rest of Kherson Oblast (on both sides of the Dnipro) and occupied Crimea, as the next bridge is only in Snihurivka, which is continuously being fought over, making the road from there to Kherson unusable. This would severely hamper Russia's ability to supply the occupying forces in Kherson.

The Ukrainian command has placed a rather strict information embargo on operations in the Kherson region. Recently, the leadership of the regional civil-military administration stated that 44 settlements had been liberated, but without further details. Otherwise, the front appeared to be pretty much static.

Some time ago, a short video emerged showing the passage of military equipment through Shyroka Balka. But it wasn't entirely clear whether these were Ukrainian troops.

Today, two interesting pieces of information appeared on Twitter. First, a video of a Russian Su-35 aircraft allegedly shot down near Beryslav, where it was supposed to have tried to attack Ukrainian direct support aircraft. This is a town opposite Novaya Kakhovka and therefore roughly less than 50 km from the supposed front line.

The second is footage of Russian salvo rocket launchers firing rockets from the area near the township of Chaplinka. The latter is located 50 km from Kachovka and 75 km from Kherson across the river in the occupied territory. The closest front line known so far is not only outside the effective range (to still make any sense even relative to the accuracy of Russian equipment), but also outside the maximum range (where you can't talk much about accuracy). If the Russians really were firing from the vicinity of Chaplinka at Ukrainian troops, the Ukrainians would have to be relatively close to Kachovka.

It would be very surprising to unexpected. However, for now we can only wait and see if the information is confirmed or if it is just noise.

I'm attaching just two tweets from that thread, which has more info

Looks like the salvo rocket launchers M270 have arrived at the front. They're slower, but carry twice the load of missiles as HIMARS

Russian troops launched several small attacks today, mainly in the area around Siversk. But these were mostly repelled. The only partial success was an attack on the village of Pokrovske near Bakhmut, where the occupiers have taken a foothold on the outskirts of the village.

South of Izjum, the Ukrainian army launched a local counter-attack. The occupiers had been driven out of Kurulka and Mazanivka in the previous days, and today from Dibrovne. Instead of attacking Barvinkove as part of the encirclement operation against Slavyansk, Russian forces have made very few gains there since April. They were long delayed by the capture of the village of Dovhenke, which took many attempts and many deaths, and by Ukrainian army strikes through the forest west of Izjum. The Russian army also concentrated mainly on capturing Syevyerodonetsk, where most of the reinforcements and ammunition were going. If the Ukrainians succeeded in recapturing Dovhenke, it would mean that the situation in the area south of Izjum would return to about the April situation. The inability of the Russian army to continue the attack south of Izjum, even though they had river crossings in the town and many battalion tactical groups assembled there, was quite a surprise.

In Reni (Reni, 45°27'19.00 "N 28°16'45.00 "E) near the border with Romania and Moldova, one person died in a tanker explosion at a port transshipment facility. An investigation is underway to determine whether this was work-related misconduct or sabotage.
