At a meeting at Gen.Insp.d.Pz.Tr on 14.3.1945 where the Notprogramm (emergency program) was discussed, the limited production of 38D platforms was mentioned. It was planned to produce 250 platforms, of which 225 in the form of the Jagdpanzer 38D tank fighter and 25 Bergepanzer 38D recovery vehicles. The equipment of the vehicle was likely to replicate that of the production Bergepanzer 38(t) (5-ton winch and 2-ton folding crane).
