General Philip H. Sheridan
(1831 - 1885)
He was born on March 6, 1831 in Albany in the state New York. In 1853, he graduated from West Point as an average of the year.
At the beginning of of the Civil War he was promoted from captain to major general and in April 1864 took command of the cavalry of the Potomac Army. With her, he undertook a campaign through the Shenandoah Valley, leading 50,000 troops from September 1864 to March 1865, crushing Confederate troops in several battles.
