CV90


A number of infantry fighting vehicles and derived vehicles combat support developed by the companies of Hägglunds and Bofors on the basis of the requirements of the Swedish army. Development took place during the second half of the eighties and beginning of nineties of the 20. century. Tests of prototypes were carried out in the years 1988 to 1991 and the delivery of production vehicles for the Swedish army were launched in 1994. The vehicle subsequently caught the attention of foreign armies, for which was produced in several enhanced versions. By the year 2016 was made more than 1280 of series CV90 in 15 variations, which are used in 7 armies, 4 of which are members of NATO. Infantry fighting vehicles from the arsenal of the Norwegian, the Danish and the Swedish army was operationally deployed against insurgents in Afghanistan.


CV90 Mk 0
The first generation of vehicles introduced to the weaponry of the Swedish army and armed with a cannon Bofors L/70 caliber 40 mm in a two-tower configuration and an ensemble. Together with the basic variant of the combat vehicle of infantry Strf 9040 have been bought 4 versions of the vehicles combat support (a command post Stripbv 90, recovery vehicle Bgbv 90, artillery observation Epbv 90 and anti-aircraft self-propelled cannon Lvkv 90). Vehicle CV90 Mk 0 (nemodernizovaná) had completely analog electronics, engine power 405 kW (550 hp), a limited ability to fight at night, weaker armour, and main weapon without stabilization.
Infantry fighting vehicles Strf 9040 was gradually upgraded (either already in production or conversion of the manufactured specimens) in the version of Strf 9040A, Strf 9040B (Strf 9040B1) and Strf 9040C.

Variants (prototypes):
Strf 9040/56 – missile tank destroyer with anti-tank missile RB56; not implemented due to unresolved technical problems
Störpbv 90 – vehicle for electronic warfare; comes from the Strf 9040A without the tower, which is replaced by a fixed superstructure with an extendable mast and the weapons station LEMUR; project cancelled due to lack of finance
Grkpbv 90120 – self-propelled mortar with the tower complete AMOS (Advanced Mortar System)



CV90 Mk I
The second generation of the combat infantry fighting vehicles derived from the CV90 Mk 0. This type of succeeded in the selection procedure, the Norwegian army, where he defeated the competitive types M2 Bradley, Warrior and Pizarro/Ulan. The vehicle was equipped with a newly constructed two-tower E30 for lafetaci cannon caliber 30 mm. Vehicle CV90 Mk I had completely analog electronics, engine power 445 kW (605 hp), imaging of the first generation to fight in the night, reinforced armour (STANAG 4569 Annex a Level 5) and main gun stabilization.

CV90 Mk II
Infantry fighting vehicles of this generation were introduced into the armament of the armies of Switzerland and Finland. CV90 Mk II has a partially digital electronics, engine power 460 kW (680 k), on-board diagnostics for the evaluation of the technical condition, the imaging of the second generation for fight of the night, reinforced armour (STANAG 4569 Annex a Level 5) and main gun stabilization.

CV90 Mk III
The latest generation with the possibility to use tower assy E30 for cannon Bushmaster II caliber 30 mm or E35 for cannon Bushmaster III caliber 35 mm. Reworked was the suspension, in order to increase the useful load capacity of the vehicle. Transporter the series CV90 Mk III were introduced into the armament of the Dutch, Danish and Norwegian army. Supernumerary Dutch cars were then sold to the Estonian army. CV90 Mk III has a fully digital electronics, engine power 596 kW (810 hp), on-board diagnostics for the evaluation of the technical condition, combat vehicle information system, navigation system, thermography third generation for fight of the night, reinforced armour (up to STANAG 4569 Annex a Level 6) and protiminovou protection (up to STANAG 4569 Annex B, Level 4), fire control system hunter-killer and the main gun caliber 30 or 35 mm with stabilization and the possibility of using programmable ammunition.

Light tanks
CV90105 - light tank project using the tower complete with a cannon caliber of 105 mm from the company GIAT (Nexter); the newer version uses a tower assy XC-8 of the company CMI Defence
CV90120-T - light tank project using the tower complete with a cannon of a caliber of 120 mm from the company RUAG; the newer version uses a tower assy XC-8 of the company CMI Defence

CV90 CZr (CV90 Mk III with a tower complete of MCT-30), IDET 2017, Brno, June 2017.

After the termination of the IDET 2017 vehicle CV90 CZ and CV90 CZr during the 5.6.2017 to 14.7.2017 graduated on the basis of the requirements of the Ministry of defence of the CZECH republic tests for VTU. This testing is also to participate in all competitive machines presented at the same event. Practical test completed cars:

On the basis of the testing carried out have been obtained the necessary information for the decision-making process in the framework of the project of rearmament of the 7. mechanized brigade a new fighting vehicle of the infantry. - the possibilities of implementation of systems C4ISTAR (Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Targets Acquisition & Reconnaissance)
- shooting test (shooting from a place and movement on three standard objective type Q/BVP - distance up to 2 000 m).
