In the autumn of 1944, along with the renaming of the body, the equipment was renewed and the men were replenished. The unit regrouped in the area between Bielefeld and Sennelager. In mid-October, the first new Tiger II tanks arrived, and in November the squad leader, SS Obersturmbannführer Heinz von Westernhagen, returned from medical treatment. By early December the detachment was ready for further deployment. Each of the three tank companies had 14 tanks (4 tanks in each of the three platoons, the commander's tank and the tank of the staff squad leader). The remaining three tanks were divided between the squad leader, his aide-de-camp (SS untersturmführer Eduard Kalinowsky) and the liaison officer (SS Obersturmführer Dollinger).
The commander of the 1st Company was Obersturmführer SS Jürgen Wessel. His platoon leaders were untersturmführer SS Rolf Henniges, untersturmführer SS Heinz Buchner and oberscharführer SS Jürgen Brandt. The second company was commanded by Hauptsturmführer SS Rolf Möbius. The platoons of the second company were commanded by untersturmführer SS Georg Hantusch, untersturmführer SS Walter Hahn and hauptscharführer SS Georg Lötzsch. Hauptsturmführer SS Heinz Birnschein led the third company. His platoons were led by Thomas Amselgruber, untersturmführer SS Winfried Lukasius and Hauptscharführer SS Rolf von Westernhagen. It was not a coincidence of names. Rolf was the brother of the squad leader.
The fourth company was commanded by Hauptsturmführer SS Wilhelm Spitz. The company consisted of an armoured reconnaissance platoon, an engineer platoon, two anti-aircraft platoons (each with four self-propelled guns). The commander of the staff and supply company was SS Obersturmführer Paul Vogt. The company was subordinated to a medical platoon. Among other things, the company provided fuel and ammunition. The Workshop Company, headed by SS Obersturmführer Gottfried Klein, was responsible for repairing machines.
