SVK - ASTRA PVO (automatizovaný systém velenia PVO)

ASTRA PVO - automated command system for PLRK-armed PVO units 9K32M Strela-2, 9K38 IGLA, 9K35M3 STRELA-10M3, BRAMS.

The system is mounted in a standard ISO-C container and is transported by AKTIS (tests were also conducted using T-815 4x4 chassis)

The system can receive data on air targets via ASV LETVIS, or from up to two radars.

The system has been introduced into the armament of the Slovak Armed Forces, upgrades have been made to the P-19 PLRK 9K35M3 Strela-10M3 radar for cooperation with the system, and the MANPAD system has been introduced for the 9K38 IGLA set of 9K38 IGLA. At the same time, the MANPAD system was fitted to the [url=/topic/view/13257/]OT-90 armored personnel carrier and modified to OT-IGLA.

Tactical-technical data:
Number of simultaneous fire vehicles: 12
Reaction time: up to 2 s
Max. 2 firing distance. 5-20 km (direct radio visibility)
Max. Number of firing vehicles: 3
The system is equipped with GPS means
The means allows training using airborne simulation
Container is air-conditioned and has protection against WMD
El. Power supply: own EC AD-30 on the trailer, or el. (AD ADEC or ADEC ADV-ADL), on the ADV-ADL or mains.

The role of the ASTRA-PVO system is to analyse the air situation, process the information obtained and efficiently allocate tasks to the firing assets. The system receives radar information from a primary source or multiradar information from the LETVIS network. After processing, it distributes the air situation information to the workstations. The system controls in real time the activity of all working and technical positions, connected firing assets and also the continuous control of the data link between positions. It also carries out continuous analysis of the air situation with respect to the combat capabilities of the subordinate fire assets used, carries out automated decision-making for conducting combat operations and supporting the conduct of combat operations, and distributes tasks to individual fire assets. It also archives the work of operators in the conduct of combat operations and produces objective documentation in electronic form. The system integrates combat simulation and crew training equipment.

The ASTRA-PVO system integrates radio links for data communication with attached local radar reconnaissance assets, as well as for data and voice communication with subordinate firing assets and with the higher level of command. The Astra-PVO system offers the user a large variability in the type range of fire assets to be attached. Once an asset is accepted, only its parameters are entered into the system's firing asset databank. The basic types of connected fire vehicles in the military test phase of the Slovak Army are the self-propelled rocket set Strela-10M3 , self-propelled gun set BRAMS, self-propelled vehicle OT-90PVO and gunners with portable rocket sets IGLA. Shooters with Igla kits receive information through their commander with a yield monitor, which displays the same information as the ASTRA-PVO command post workstations.

The ASTRA-PVO system is installed in a unified container planned for all similar SAF applications and is transported on a new standard SAF medium truck AKTIS.

The ASTRA PVO system in the shape as shown in the pictures above has not proved to be very successful in the Slovak Armed Forces. After the purchase of two containers for anti-aircraft units (and more)predestined to perform tasks in favour of units assigned to the NATO Joint Task Force, the further purchase of the system is suspended and a way is being sought to place this system in a special container on the chassis of the TATRAPAN vehicle (which already houses the command posts of the air defence forces - MOVES, (VP) artillery - DELSYS, ground forces - VESPRA).
