Defense of the nation (ON)
Defence of the Nation

in General
Defense of the nation was a military resistance group, whose members were former members of the czechoslovak army. This secret army has built a large-scale command post staff structure - central, provincial, county (division), district (regiments), tract (battalions), including the specialized department. At the time of the outbreak of the general uprising should these structures serve as a basis for the construction of military units. Team made up of former members of the army or members of the Falcon, the Eagle, and other groups. The weak point of this structure was that it too closely followed the structure and dislocation of the czechoslovak armed forces, which the gestapo greatly simplify the job of infiltration and arrests.

Formation and first class
After the march occupation of 1939 they started some former members of the czechoslovak army to organize a resistance organization. In the initial period on the one hand, created the framework concept of the group, on the other hand, there were the elemental creation of local groups. The main protagonists in the emergence of the group were generals Ingr, White and Vojcechovský. The formation of the group had the lion's share of the liquidation group of MNO, which was in charge of the placement of soldiers into civilian life. Its members would assemble their colleagues according to the needs of HE. After the reorganization in the summer of 1939 can talk about stabilized the basic structure of the Defense of the nation. At this time the members of the group were counting on the fact that in a relatively short time, it will be the fall of Germany and they will ensure the takeover of power on the territory of the republic. As has already been partly indicated, the organization of the farms, mainly on good organisation on the military side and underestimated the conspiracy side of things. The gestapo had so unfortunately managed to in two waves in the autumn of 1939 and in February 1940 the arrest of the first generation HE.

Second class
After the liquidation of the first class gradually got garniture second, which due to the winning of the procedure of the nazi troops in the West left the efforts of building a vast secret army for the all people's uprising. The new leadership has focused primarily on the introduction of better methods of conspiracy and the developed activity in the area of intelligence, where appropriate, diversionary. The Gestapo and the abwehr were, however, the new leadership soon on the trail. Their actions against HIM culminated after the onset of Heydrich to the functions of the deputy reich protector. After his assassination was in retaliation would be virtually destroyed the rest of the second class.

Third class
After the liquidation of the second class began, HE slowly restore general Zdeněk Novák. This third class HE was, however, the gestapo also revealed. General Smith was arrested 22. June 1944.

the Fourth class
At the head of the last class was general Francis Slunečko. At this time, the structure was HE strongly atomized. When it erupted in may of the anti nazi uprising, he built a general Slunečko after the military line to his forehead. After the liberation, general Novak he charge forward and became his deputy.
