TBF-1
Basic production version of TBF-1 identical to the second prototype. A total of 1,524 aircraft were produced.
TBF-1B (Avenger Mk.I)
Version of the TBF-1 developed for the FAA. Total of 402 aircraft produced and delivered.
TBF-1C
A modification of the TBF-1 equipped with two machine guns in the wing and two hangers for additional tanks under the wing. A total of 764 aircraft were produced.
TBF-1CP
A modification TBF-1C for photo reconnaissance missions made by removably mounting cameras in the bomb bay.
TBF-1D
Modification TBF-1C for anti-submarine warfare. RT-5/APS-4 (ASD) radar antennas located in the leading edge of the wing.
TBF-1E
Modification TBF-1C for anti-submarine warfare. It is equipped with AN/ASP-4A (ASH radar) radar housing under the right wing.
TBF-1J
Modification of TBF-1C for operations in Arctic conditions.
TBF-1L
Modification of TBF-1 equipped with a search light under the bomb bay. Because this equipment made them an easy target for submarine anti-aircraft guns, the aircraft so modified were retired in short order.

Modification of TBF-1 intended for photo reconnaissance.
