Both guns are very similar and have arisen as a response to the demand of rapidly available and cheap guns firing rate for the british army. Yet that the development of ran in the RSAF in Enfield's own manufacture was handed over to BSA in Birmingham. The older version of the Mk.I had a wooden cover in front of the trigger guard and auxiliary handle under the shaft of the tray. Version Of The Mk. I* appeared at the end of the year 1941, as a simplified version of the previous Mk. Also, compared to her, the lack of a wooden front handle, wooden cover on the bottom of the arms and on the front of the disappeared funnel-shaped compensator. The butt had a different shape. A total of were produced around 100 000 pieces of models Mk. I and Mk. I*.
