The first serial version of the tank Pz.Kpfw.III. Appearance resembled the first prototype Z.W.Ibut the serial machine had several improvements. The chassis consisted of five larger castors on each side, suspended by coil springs, a drive wheel at the front and a tension wheel at the rear. It was rather a verification series, the first mass-produced version was supposed to be the version Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf .E.
The tanks produced bore the serial numbers Fgst.Nr.60101-60110.
As of November 2, 1937, the ten tanks produced were divided into the following predominantly training units:
Kraftfahrkampftruppenschulle Wünsdorf - 5 tanks (Fgst.Nr.60101, 60103, 60104, 60105, 60106)
Kraftfahrkampftruppenschulle Schiesslehrgange Putlos (shooter training school) - 1 tank
Panzer Regiment 1 v Erfurte- 2 tanks
Panzer Regiment 5 ( 3.Panzer-Division ) in Wünsdorf - 2 tanks (Fgst.Nr. 60107 and 60108)
