Brimstone missiles can also be used from land-based launchers, and such missiles have been used against real targets by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the conflict with Russia since May 2022 (but as early as 2021, negotiations were underway for the delivery of Brimstone missiles to be used as armament for Ukrainian patrol boats - the Sea Spear kit). In particular in the Zaporizhzhya region, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have documented several fragments of these missiles (mainly engines), but also at least one complete missile. According to the production labels, the engines found were made in the USA in September 2001, the guidance warhead from the surviving missile was made in 2004 also in the USA, which probably means that the missiles are of the first generation (Brimstone 1) delivered from the arsenal of the British Armed Forces (in service since 2005, while in 2008 the missiles were upgraded by the addition of a semi-active laser guidance channel to the so called Dual Mode Brimstone / Brimstone DMB).

The second generation of Brimstone missiles (Brimstone 2) has been in service since 2016. Thanks to a new engine and a modified warhead, the range of the missile is increased from 20 km to 60 km (when used from an aircraft). The next version is the Brimstone 3 version, trials of which began in 2019 and is primarily intended for use from ground launchers.

Basic data (Brimstone 1)
Guidance system: active radar guidance
Range: 20 km (when used from an aircraft), or 10-12 km (when used from a ground launcher)
Calibre: 180 mm
Length: 1800 mm
Warhead: tandem, cumulative, 6,5 kg explosive
