PZL P-49 Miś

It was a five-seater, twin-engine, single-plane heavy bomber with a fully retractable stern-type landing gear and a double SOP.

It was planned as a successor to the Loś type. It was generally characterized by higher performance. These were to help him mainly more powerful power units with an output of about 1350 hp (Loś - 918 hp). The planned top speed of around 520 km/h was 75 km/h higher than its predecessor and it was expected that the climb and access would increase. A larger supply of fuel was to extend its range up to 3,000 km.

This aircraft was also planned for the then relatively large main armament. This was primarily to consist of one movable 20 mm cannon, located in a rotating tower on the back of the fuselage. Two designs of turret were considered. The first was to be two-thirds retractable with a convex ceiling and the second fully retractable with a ceiling shaped according to the cross-section of the fuselage. In the second case, it would not protrude above the contour of the butt at all when retracted, which would be a more advantageous solution from the aerodynamic point of view. Another armament was to consist of four movable machine guns. One shooting position was located in the glass bow. Another shooting post was to be located at the bottom of the fuselage, approximately below the upper turret. It is not known whether they should have been equipped with one machine gun or machine gun twins. Bombs with a maximum weight of up to 2,600 kg, effective defensive main armament and its high maximum speed (520 km/h) would make it a very effective fighting machine.
