Schneider CD

muničné, prepravné, opravárenské, ženijné vozidlo
In 1917, 500 units of a special auxiliary vehicle using the design (platform of a licensed Holt tractor) of the Schneider CA-1 tank were ordered by the French army. The platforms were intended to serve the roles of haulers of engineers (le 150T, Mle 1917), ammunition vehicles, repair and engineer vehicles, or light tank carriers FT-17. As late as 11/1918, there were still 110 units of this vehicle in the army, mostly in the form of ammunition vehicles. Their service in the French Army continued until the invasion of France in 1940. The machines were stripped of most of the armour plating on the hull and a driving compartment and a material loading compartment were created. Some tanks, which were already of obsolete design, were also converted to auxiliary vehicles. A well-known modification is that of a repair vehicle carrying a crane.
After the end of the fighting, many of these vehicles fell into the hands of the German troops, who used them more or less intensively, unchanged or converted, until the very end of the Second World War. There is, for example, an image of an improvised tank fighter from 1944.
