Plukovní odznak byl schválen v deníku rozkazů ministerstva vojenských věcí č. 35 pozice 379 z 14.12.1928.


Odznak má tvar rupertského kříže s vypouklými konci ramen, které jsou pokrytý bílým emailem. Uprostřed je položen kruhový štít červené barvy s iniciály pluku 9 U.


Způsob nošení: na levé horní kapse stejnokroje.
