At the time of the Soviet-Finnish fighting at the turn of 1939/40, it was created under the leadership of the chief designer L. E. Sičeva project of a structurally very interesting tanket known as ППГ (Подвижное Пулеметное Гнездо), or by object marking i Object 217 :aaaaaa]. It was an armored self-propelled machine gun nest. An interesting feature of the construction was its height, which reached only 0.86 m. This was possible only because the two-member crew drove the vehicle in a lying position. The mechanic-driver and machine gunner each had a machine gun DT caliber 7.62 mm. The machine had a modern solution of inclined armor in the front parts up to 20 mm thick. The chassis consisted of 4 large castors (the first of which was a tensioner) and one drive wheel. The machine was powered by a motorcycle two-stroke twin-cylinder PM-3 with a maximum output of 16 horsepower, with which it reached a maximum speed of 18 km/h on the road.
The machine was to be transported to the front line on the bodies of trucks.
Ideas for the deployment of such a machine considered a kind of replacement for mobile infantry gunners, when the machine would move to the necessary sectors that needed fire support. Armor and mobility were to ensure the protection of the crew and their rapid transfer.
In 3/1940, a prototype was created, which passed the tests. Although it was an interesting idea, it was rather a curiosity at the time of its creation. The dancers were already a real archaism at the beginning of World War II. Due to the basic shortcomings of the concept of such a vehicle, the machine was not accepted and mass-produced.
