Unarmed medium tracked floating armoured personnel carrier OT-62A is designed for transporting personnel, various material, for staff work in the field, etc. Its use was also envisaged in the civilian sector, when deployed in extremely difficult conditions. It is possible that this "disarmed" transporter, like the OT-62 and OT-64 basic versions, was nicknamed "bus".
