R-60

Anti-aircraft missile short-range mass-produced since 1973. The rocket is made up of five major structural units. In the first section is located an infrared homing system OGS-60 Komar with a non-cooled sensor. On the bow are built solid rectangular destabilizátory, behind which is located the helm. Destabilizátory have to improve the effectiveness of the rudder during flight at high angles of attack. The second part of the rocket is formed by a high explosive squash head-jerky combat parts of the BB-62 weighing in at 3 kg and autopilot, which follows a third section with a contact lighter. The fourth section contains a contactless optical lighter chopped strands, that the combat part of the initiates at a distance of 1 to 5 meters from the target. The last subgroup consists of wings with rollerony and the engine on the rigid propellant PRD-259, that burns 3 to 5 seconds. The missile is not všerakurzová and it's possible to shoot only on the back polosféru goals. The viewing angle of the sensor is 12°, the angular speed of the target can maximum amount to 30 to 35°/s. If the shot goal of mine, after 25 seconds initiates a self-destruct device.

The first serious use of missiles R-60 21. June 1978, when around half past six in the morning four iranian helicopters of the type the CH-47C (on a reconnaissance mission ?) disrupted the airspace of the USSR in Turkmenistan. Against intruders was posted MiG-23M from the assembly 152. IAP flown by cpt. And. In. Děmjanovem. He, however, found only one helicopter, and additionally identified him as a soviet. At 6.52 he was against iran's Chinookům posted additional cash MiG-23M from the assembly 152. IAP. His pilot, kpt. Valery Also. Škinděr, all the helicopters soon found and carried out their correct identification. The closest he fired two R-60. Both shots are to guide right and the iranian helicopter into the wreck, in whose bowels, killing all 8 members of the crew. The remaining iranian crew, meanwhile, saw a danger in the form of a soviet Mig and headed back towards the border. Kpt. Škinděr, however, still continued attacking. Two doses of a cannon directorate of the general staff-23L so seriously damaged the right engine of the next the CH-47C, who had to crash land near the soviet border guards. Iran's four-man crew was captured and interrogated by the KGB in Ashgabat. Damaged Chinook with the tactical number 5-4092 was later corrected and his crew and eight dead from the downed machine is returned back to Iran.

R-60K
Version of the R-60 missile intended for export purposes. The main difference is the use of a Kolibri radar lighter. R-60K missiles were deployed by the Syrian Air Force during the fighting in Lebanon in 1982. On June 9, 1982, the Syrian MiG-21bis missile R-60K damage Israeli F-15D, the same day the same combination of Syrian aircraft and missiles caused destruction Kfiru C.2 Israeli Air Force. R-60K fired from MiGu-21bis could probably cause the downing of the Israeli machine on June 11 F-4E. The R-60K was also used in combat by the Iraqi Air Force during Iraq-Iran War in the 1980s.
