Dear colleagues,
thanks to the kindness of Martin Koller, I can introduce you to the prototype of the Tatrapan armored personnel carrier. The prototype was presented in 1990 to the "new political command" at Kbely Airport.

The development of the armored vehicle was allegedly started in the second half of the eighties by a team of engineers. Pěchoučka from VÚ-010 Vyškov.

footnote
Current chassis designation: Tatra 815 VP 21 265 6x6.1R, or VP 21 275 6x6.1R according to the power of the power unit used.

P. S.
Thanks to my colleague buko1 for pointing out the second variant of the chassis designation.

Diskuse

According to unverified information (this is just passed information and I don't have it from official places) the Czech Armed Forces are also interested in this type and it should soon appear in Hradec Kralove for a test, where it should replace the OT-64 zdrav, which will be phased out.

Is it possible to find somewhere at least a little history of the development and general reasons for the Tatrapan concept? I am interested in it mainly from the point of view, whether it was supposed to be a part of the whole CSLA with a view to, say, the 9th-10th quintuplet, or is it purely a Slovak product?

Obe základné verzie (T1/Z1 a VESPRA) boli vyvíjané spoločne (myslím ešte v rámci federácie).
