SOV - SAB-100-90 (osvetlovacia puma)

The SAB-100-90 was designed for landscape illumination, aerial observation and night bombing.


The bomb was designed for use in all aircraft carrying 100 kg aerial bombs, for drops from altitudes up to 10,000 m at aircraft speeds up to 1,000 km/h (1,000 mph).


In rain, snow and fog it was not recommended to use this aerial illuminating bomb.


The SAB-100-90 consists of SAB-100-90:


- Cougar body,
- sharp casing,
- sharp flare,
- parachute system,
- tail section.


Main technical data :


Mean descent rate of the burning flare on the parachute : 4,3 m/s,


Flare burning time : approx. 6 minutes


Luminous intensity : 3 million candles ( figure from 1960 )


Bomb drop time when bombing from a height :


- 6000 m : 27.6 s
- 10000 m : 26.9 s


Time fuse type TM-24 B


Diameter of illuminated terrain at 1300 - 1600 m : 2 - sh km


The aerial bombs were painted with khaki oil paint. On the cylindrical part of the bomb on the side near the head was a circular strip of white paint.


The shelf life of the air bombs was set at 8 years.
