City walls

The fortifications of the town Svitavy was exposed after a year of 1389 at the behest of the bishop of olomouc Nicholas. At present it is well preserved only a small stretch of wall with bastion.

the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary

Originally a single-nave romanesque church arose sometime around the year 1250. From the year 1421 the abbey church. Subsequently, he underwent a gothic remodeling. After the fire of 1781 fundamentally rebuilt in baroque style (completed 1796) litomyšlským builder M. Rosa. The church in the course of their existence never directly changed the dedication to the Virgin Mary, but a total of 4 times changed its name it was originally the church of the nativity of the Virgin Mary, then st. mary's church, then the church of Our Lady and finally this is today's church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. In the years 1993 and 1994, the church was generally repaired.

Old hall

Column of the Virgin Mary

The column on the suggestion of several plague epidemics of the 16th. and 17. century, taking for the city was the worst of the year 1622. Executed in baroque style was completed in 1703. Monument Valeas, res publica!

A monument in the form of splayed books on the reminder of the visit to the city president of the republic T. G. Masaryk on 9. 7. 1929. The monument was unveiled on the centenary anniversary of the formation of the republic 28. October 2018.
