In the case of the first two ranks, the name of the rank depended on the type of weapon or the unit in which the soldier served. The rank Flieger was used only for flying personnel, ground personnel, LW field divisions (including the HG tank division) took the rank names from the ground army, the name Fallschirmjäger was used for airborne regiments, as was the specific nomenclature for Flak (anti-aircraft artillery).
Variants:
Grenadier, Fahrer, Feldgendarm, Funker, Fallschirmjäger, Kanonier, Kraftsfahrer, Panzergrenadier, Panzerschütze, Pionier, Sanitätssoldat
