Sobkův palace

Sobkův palace is located on Masaryk street no. 28, in the historic core of the city Opava, its southeastern part. The building was built in the baroque style in the years 1731 to 1733, in places where previously were 3 townhouses. The investor of the construction was Charles Joseph Ragojský of Rohožníku. Already in 1758 the building was seriously damaged by fire. The repair costs, which amounted to a considerable amount, invested already a new owner Maximilian Jindřích Sobek z Kornic. After it is even the palace named. One of the later owners was the count of Šternberk. For a time they were in the palace also the office of the Silesian archive. After the reconstruction, the building is the seat of the company Opavská lesní a.with.
This is a terraced two storey house with only slightly projecting jednosým the front buttress of the above two floors, which is located in the axis of the building is ended with the shield trojúhelníkovitého shape. in the level of the crown cornice is located a painting of the black madonna with child. That complement the sculptures of faces of angels and a pair of statues of angels holding a crown above the image. Under this complex is located the Latin inscription "SUB TUUM PRAESIDIUM". The facade is a seven bay, wherein the bay is located in the middle. Further, in the stupním facade located above the main entrance a balcony supported ornamental pillars and the balcony has a richly wrought rococo lattice. A cornice divides the building on the ground floor and floor. On the ground floor located the windows are lined with rustication and are fitted with ornamental bars. The windows in the floor are then oramovány richly profiled window frames, in the upper sections, then there is a decoration of floral patterns. The whole building is roofed by a mansard roof. At least in the ground floor spaces of the building have been preserved baroque vaults.
