It was originally a castle and it cannot be excluded that it may have been primarily a fortress. It is considered that this is a replacement for the hussites in 1423 ruined episcopal castle of Melice. The fortress in Vyškov is reminiscent of the year 1449. However, probably onedlouho fortress either changed fundamentally the character, or it's also possible that it was this building incorrectly labelled. However, when king George of Poděbrady invaded the city, causing damage to the castle. To its renewal came after a year of 1470 the bishop of olomouc Protasiem Montenegrin from Boskovice. Additional construction work the castle has undergone under the bishop Stanislav And. Thurza. Today's form according to the project of Giovanni Pietro Tencally acquired the lock during rebuilding in the years 1665 to 1675, when it was modified the existing two-story tract and subsequently in the years 1680 to 1682, when he was exposed to the new wing of the castle. The investor was a bishop Karel II. from Liechtenštejna - Kastelkornu. Part of the extensive remodeling was also to build the picture gallery and the theatre hall. In 1753 the castle burned down. From the year 1774 there was placed a military hospital. In 1928, the mansion bought down moravian-silesian, which is here given to establish the Earth's hospodyňskou school. The year 1948 was in part of the castle open gallery. Since 1954 here, then moved vyškovské museum with my expozicemy.
