Pitcher

The ruins of the castle lies near the Knuckle, under the water Jug on the ostrožně on the way to the northern Bohemia, in the district of Rakovník. Written reports of the castle is silent, the results of archaeological research lay the beginnings to the first half of the 13th. century. It is the northernmost castle of the royal hunting forest. The castle was built in the grounds of an older prehistoric settlement. Its polygonal perimeter is defined by a massive ditch. Today is the area of the castle very much damaged opukovými quarries. Thanks to the older descriptions, it is possible to create its reconstruction. At the forefront of the castle stood three circular flankovací towers, one high and mighty acting as mountain time, and two smaller. Today are seen only the smallest corner of the tower. During the construction of the forehead of the castle were used the principles of the French kastelů. This fact suggests, that could be built around the same time as the above-mentioned Týřov. Around the perimeter of the castle was built the palace wing, that apparently represent the complex and the oldest royal palace complex. The pitcher represents a combination between the perimeter buildings and the French kastelem and are among the representative of the oldest royal castles..
