The ruins of the castle are located near Lhota pod Džbán on a promontory above the road to northern Bohemia, in the Rakovník district. The written records are silent about the castle, the results of archaeological research place its origins in the first half of the 13th century. It is the northernmost castle of the royal hunting ground. The castle was built in the area of an older prehistoric settlement. Its polygonal perimeter is defined by a massive moat. Today, the castle area is very damaged by ash quarries. Thanks to older descriptions, it is possible to create a reconstruction of the castle. At the head of the castle stood three round flanking towers, one tall and massive one representing a bergfrit and two smaller ones. Today only the smallest corner towers are visible. The principles of French castles were used in the construction of the castle front. This fact suggests that it may have been built around the same time as the aforementioned Týřov. The palace wings were built around the perimeter of the castle, and they probably represent a complex and the oldest royal palace complex. The jug is a combination of a perimeter building and a French castle and is one of the oldest royal castles.
