New castle at Kunratice

The new castle at Kunratice, or also just a New castle, was the castle of the royal since its inception. It was constructed in the years 1411 and 1412 for the Czech king Václav IV. The here, then, abundantly lived. The castle was near to Prague and to this day around it are extensive forests, which now make this part of one of the best, what is the environment in Prague. The castle is situated on top and the end of the ostrožny, which wraps the Kunratický creek. The village itself Kunratice is located north of the castle. The castle itself is separated from the rest of the ostrožny moat, in recent times there was built a massive wooden bridge.
Castle in his establishment he called himself the king Václav IV. Wenzelsteinem, but this name did not catch on. Construction started the year 1411, with the construction of the driving burgher of prague Hertvín and the construction then carried out the building works of the master of the Cross. The whole construction has to be abundantly supported by documentary evidence such as bills, etc. Already in 1412 then here resided the king. The king is here learned about the defenestration reportedly fell into a depression and finally gave up the ghost. The castle later became one of the seats and the resistance zikmundovských troops. And finally after the fall of the Vyšehrad castle and other surrounding bastions became the last point around Prague, which was not under the control of the hussites. You therefore came surprisingly in the winter, specifically 31. December 1420 the siege of the castle. Built a massive siege camp about 150 meters from the castle and get knocked down castle. The garrison of the castle then had with regard to serious damage to the stands 25. January 1421 give up. Two days later the castle was burned down, but apparently did not accede to the demolition activities. The castle then remained relatively well-preserved ruins. Damage to the heart occurred only in 19. century and since became the castle place mainly in prague day-trippers, was approached by the administrators of the forest 1881 to the demolition of well-preserved aerial parts, in order to limit the scaring game. In the years 1928 and 1929, the castle has conducted archaeological research L. Jansová, at the same time, it was one of the first researches focused on the middle ages. Research unfortunately has not been completed and vypublikován, at the same time avoid the planned reconstruction and relief work and it's all because of the emerging economic crisis. In the era of socialism was then particularly archaeologically explored the camp of the besiegers, that is to this day preserved in remarkably good shape.
