On the occasion of the twentieth annual "Victory" over fascism, the SFRJ presidency, at the suggestion of Josip Broz Tito, set up a medal to commemorate the bravery of soldiers, guerrillas who fought against the fascist occupation of the country with weapons in hand. At the same time, the medal was a visible award for members of the army and guerrilla units of the SFRY.


The medal is interesting and its design reminds of another award of Poland (see picture). For the Polish medal, we also see a map of Poland on the front. The appearance with the Yugoslav medal is therefore more than accidental.



For foreign nationals, the decree was different, the main feature is probably that the medal was presented in the name of the president ("President Josip Broz Tito") for others, it was on behalf of the presidency of the SFRY - see the picture of the decree


The medal was presented in a red paper etude, which is lined with a white cloth replacing the velvet.


The collection of the Serbian falerist Mr. Rank Mandič from Belgrade contains the original artistic design of this medal (see picture).


This medal with a diameter of 30 mm is made of gilded bronze. On the obverse of the medal is the currency:


DEATH OF FASCISM - FREEDOM OF NATION


The inscription is in Latin and embossed


On the upper edge of the medal, under the hanging lug is a small five-pointed star. The inner surface is bordered by branches of oak and laurel leaves. On Wednesday is the year 1941/1945


On the reverse of the medal at the edge laurel wreath of victory, in the middle of the medal inscription:

The ribbon is unknown.
