According to the latest analysis of the u.s. National counterterrorism center (National Counterterrorism Center, NCTC) fighting in Iraq and Syria in the ranks of the radical organization Islamic state (IS) to 20,000 foreigners from 90 countries of the world. About 3400 of them come from western countries. This quantity far exceeds the number of foreign nationals who attend or participate in conflicts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen or Somalia. Volunteers come from diverse social environment and most of them are getting into Syria and Iraq through Turkey, taking advantage of visa-free travel to Turkey with 69 countries, including the countries of the European union.
