COMMENT: 1968 - Václav Klaus ml.

The past week was dominated by the republic of commemorative events in August 1968. And the actions of the political. Fifty years since the tanks rolled in.

History has a remind, I write about it often.

Less joyful is that some history is barely mentioned and others are on tv 24 hours a day, and a special studio.

A few words to 1968.

First, me (class of 1969) comes to mind, that I will soon be fifty and I'm in the similar age, as it was in August 1968, my grandmother. "You don't want to."

I really thought of this first, and I write here to be honest, four and a half years, what I think. So this strategy hold.

Secondly, purely historically. August 1968 extended the standard communism in our territory about twenty years. Whereupon this was, however, defeated and bankrupt. The invasion and occupation condemned by almost all the participating countries almost thirty years ago. The first was, I think, Hungary. Finds in the Czech republic (nor in the world) no one enjoys the full rights, who would be a military invasion of 1968 somehow defended or held. Someone to think big thoughts, that Brezhnev was a Ukrainian, is not the same as if he said he supports the occupation of foreign armies.

Plus, I mean, if we accept the current doctrine, that Ukraine is not partially Russian, then was Brezhnev really Ukrainian as a post. He was born in Ukraine (in Dnepropetrovsk), the wave of stalinist terror (1937) brought him to the Ukrainian party posts (a protege of Khrushchev), actively participated in the campaign for the annexation of our Transcarpathian Ukraine to the soviet Ukraine (congress of the "national committees" 1944), and until 1950 he was transferred from Ukraine to Moldova. If the doctrine we reject and say that the east Ukraine is Russian and Brezhnev was for my parents, ethnic Russian, it can be. But we can't say both at the same time. In terms of simple mathematical logic.

The invasion of Warsaw pact troops (from the current point of view of the troops of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Armenia...) and the subsequent occupation greatly influenced my life, my entire youth. The daily work here, but then they did twenty years our home people. A foreign army was holed up somewhere in Lysá nad Labem and the power is not point, for twenty years.

Terror in August 1969 and the brutal suppression of the demonstrations of the citizens were Czech policemen and police units. This part of the beginning of normalization in August too we not mainstreaming.

August 1968 was the action of one of the communists against the other. It wasn't the fight of the nations. Maintaining a communist empire. Our traitors at the highest levels (Bilak, Indra and co. ...), who in 1968 invited by letter to a foreign army and preparing the collaborationist "worker-peasant" government, weren't after the coup of 1989 not punished.

Some of the similar stalinist still voted in December 1989, Václav Havel president. Most are already dead, so now after fifty years with them I really nevybojujeme – the earthly justice. Unfortunately.

The August invasion meant in a global context a definite turning point and decline – classical communism. For propaganda purposes, it never recovered from. The beginning of the demise. In the west, jumped the switch to the current forms of cultural marxism (is no better), in the east lasted 15-20 years. But the real trust of the population lost. Particularly striking was that in our generation – "Husák's children" from the high-rises, the downstream students in 1989. When the first shock of the empire communism no one gave up - it fell apart.

And I can't even keep my next impression from last week. Indeed, efforts to fit the actions of the politburo of the Communist party of the Soviet union from 1968 to the present Russia and its people. I've always honestly hated the Month of the czechoslovak-soviet friendship. The decor, the gregarious action, embarrassing rants. Exactly the same I mean the current Weeks of the Czech-Russian hostility. Feel free to vztekejte, but the Russians as a nation were the biggest victims of the communist dictatorship. Millions of dead.

Unlike the Czech republic, have the communists in the opposition, we do not.

Those seven heroes to the protesters in August 1968 on Red square in day of the invasion were the Russians.

The expression of political leaders, as reported by e.g. Wikipedia (no other are not there):

Mikhail Gorbachev (4. December 1989): "... mission to rescue socialism was a lie and the result of inadequate access and interference in the affairs of a friendly country, therefore, this decision was unfounded and erroneous."

Boris Yeltsin (1993): "This foray we condemn such aggression, as an attack on a sovereign, independent state, as interference in its internal affairs. The new democratic Russia is behind this action, no responsibility. It is for her responsible of the former leadership of the USSR."

Vladimir Putin (2006): "I must tell you quite openly that, of course, we assume no legal responsibility, but moral responsibility is here."

Those who now exclaim, that Yeltsin was a democrat, while..., they will not have it completely right. I've had Yeltsin in popularity (dance, inter alia, almost better than the late Ivo Pešák in Mládkově clip come true from the swamp ), but he was a career communist, just in 1968 I worked in the partisan functions. In 1977 he was regional secretary.

History just isn't so simple. But he has to talk about her, has to remind. But not the style, that when someone thinks of a little something different or from another point of view, so shut up.
