The medal is minted of silver with a diameter of 36 mm. Was awarded to the participants of the suppressing the incursions of the irish rebels to Canada in the years 1866 and 1870. They were awarded three labels:

FENIAN RAID 1866

RED RIVER 1870

FENIAN RAID 1870

Total was granted 16 668 medals.
