Medal is minted from an alloy kuproniklu with a diameter of 36 mm. Awarded for at least 30 days of continuous service in the period from 2.8.1990 to 7.3.1991. Could be granted two labels, 2 AUG 1990, and 16 JAN to 28 FEB 1991. The first received those who served in kuwait city when the assault on Iraq, the second those who participated in the liberation of kuwait city. Was granted a total of 59 687 medals to british soldiers.
