Podle redakce TASS očekávali Rusové telefonát amerického ministra obrany, který měl objasnit náležitosti kolem spuštěného vojenského jaderného cvičení Steadfast Noon, které probíhá od pondělí 17. do neděle 30. října tr. v Belgii, Velké Británii a Severním moři. Těchto manévrů se účastní na 60 letadel z 14 zemí NATO, které nacvičují náležitosti jaderného útoku a protiútoku.
