Kříž byl založen Revolučním výnosem Provizorní revoluční vlády v Thessalonikách a později potvrzen Královským výnosem 30.6.1917. Měl tři třídy, které se lišily bronzovou vavřínovou větvičkou na stuze u 1. třídy a bronzovou hvězdičkou na stuze u 2. třídy. Na stuhu se ještě přidávaly stříbrné hvězdičky za každé následné udělení ( 3x max. ) nebo uvedení v denním rozkaze. Kříž se uděloval účastníkům 1. světové války, Ukrajinského tažení 1920 a Řecko-turecké války 1919-22. Existuje řada variant.
