Commemorative medal of the engineering independent company of the transport and train workshop of the Czechoslovak Army in Russia.
The establishment of this specialised military unit was necessitated by the need of the Legionnaires, who, after the fighting at Bachmach, would withdraw eastwards by rail and in time manage to take control of important sections of the Siberian main line. The technical security, the operability of the locomotives and the general security of the movement by rail were mainly taken care of by the soldiers of this unit, which, not insignificant in number, managed to keep almost the entire Siberian Main Line in operation. After returning to their homeland, these military specialists applied the experience gained in combat in the service of the Railway Regiment in Pardubice.
The medal of this unit was established during 1948 at the twilight of democracy and traditions of the Czechoslovak army. The medal is very nicely made of white metal alloy. The author of the decoration is sculptor and artist Jiří Girsa .
The medal still has a modern look and is an ornament of any collection.
